Find The Joy

Joy, well it feels odd, contradictory today. We are entering winter during a pandemic. It doesn’t feel like “joy”.

But today is the start of my new annual calendar. I’ve struggled to identify new goals, new direction, new, new, new. But then I remembered, I never finished the old, HA! I still have goals and direction! Whew!

And all of a sudden, my average Monday, like any day, felt like a NEW day. It actually felt like I’m starting a new job! Oh, that is exciting! That means leaving the old behind for new adventures, new challenges, new people! Oh this is so much better!

And just like that there is JOY in my day!

So I wrote it in multiple places, and even made a sticky note for my monitor, so I would SEE it multiple times today. It feels refreshing.

And then at 7:30 am, I received a call from an unknown number. Voice mail. Oh, it’s the garage door company finally calling to set an appointment. You can come today when I have another appointment, so I only have 1 major interruption this week with home repairs? And the lead time for a new door is only 3-4 weeks, not 9? Oh this is awesome! More joy! Who knew?

So then I thought, I’ll switch around my schedule to accommodate these appointments like I typically do. Oh wait! I can’t do that! I started a new job today! I have to write first. Oh this feels GREAT! More JOY and it’s only 8:30 am.

What is bringing you JOY today? What are you able to do to create JOY today?
